Chihuly and Pikes Peak

This weekend, Mom and I went to see the Chihuly exhibit at the Botanic Gardens and it was outstanding! There are banners all over Denver advertising the exhibit with just the name Chihuly.  If you're an unsophisticated lover of good art like me, that name meant nothing to me until I saw a picture of some of Dale Chihuly's work in the DU Enrichment guide.  Then I knew I had to go see it.  Part of Chihuly's mission with his art is to get people to go to gardens and conservatories and see the magic in the gardens besides his own work exhibited there.  From an photographer's lens, every angle is a new work of art.  Mom and I had a lot of fun walking around the gardens, looking at both the art and the flowers and plants, just as Chihuly intended.  Though, getting mom to miss a flower or plant is like getting a clown to forget his nose.

The next day, Jeff and I went up Pikes Peak, a first for me.  I was surprised at how nervous I was on the way up.  Pikes Peak is a fourteener, and we both felt light headed at the summit.  There were a number of beautiful - and very different geological - views!

On the way home, we drove through Garden of the Gods,
And got a last view of the peak between the red rocks.
What a great weekend!
