New and Growing

May 21st - I had lunch outside today by the fountain.  Little things like this just set a Monday off right.

May 22nd - I had an amazing day today with the Penny Harvest kids from Ellis Elementary.  They gave some of their grant money to the Denver Voice, a paper created for and sold by the homeless as a means to get back on their feet.  The kids not only gave a grant, they volunteered for an hour on 16th Street Mall selling the papers with the help and expertise of two Voice vendors.  I had the opportunity to talk with Dionne on our way back to the Voice office and she had some amazing insights to share.  One was that she chose to be homeless rather than stay in her abusive marriage, and she says it was the best choice she's made.  The other piece was that even more than the money she makes selling papers, she appreciates a smile or a simple greeting from people passing by, simply acknowledging her presence.

May 23rd - Maura and I found DBar! My new favorite restaurant! (D is for dessert, but the rest of their food is Delightful too! We had the churros - made to order, with rum and coke ice cream.

May 24th - My peonies are bloomin' - beautiful!

May 25th - Didn't take a picture today, so this is of my throw pillow on my bed that I like.

May 26th - Mom, Dad and I worked really hard today building my raised veggie gardens.  2 more tons of dirt to go and I'll be ready.

I also finally got a shot of my housemates on my back patio.  Mom and Dad with 4 babies.

May 27th - went for another Highline Canal walk this morning - this time about 7 miles.  I really liked the light on these willows.

I hope your spring is just as bloomin' beautiful.

Home Again!

May 14th - This neat flower was outside of a school where none of my pics of the kids turned out.  (I'm saving for a new camera.)

May 15th - Today was National Chocolate Chip Cookie day so Emily, Maura and I walked down to the Market and got The Best Chocolate Chip  Cookie Ever.  It's not actually.  Far from it, but I'm grateful for the excuse to get out.

May 16th - I took a guitar lesson at Pickin' On Tennyson through the Denver Tradeschool, and loved it! Again, my pics didn't turn out, so here's one of my trusty guitar.

May 17th - I took this pic this morning waiting for my boss on Larimer to go to a meeting.

But the real fun part of the day was dinner with my aunt, uncle, cousin and his girlfriend, and then she showed us her new office.

May 18th - My uncle brought some things of my grandmothers for me to take to my family, and I got back the hat I'd made for Grammy.  I'll think of her every time I wear it.

May 19th - Make Way For Ducklings! - or very slow geese.

May 20th - Mom and Dad are HOME!! from their 2 week cruise.  I missed them and loved tea this morning with our discussions about anything and everything!

Sometimes, I Get a Good Feeling. Yeah.

A lot to be grateful for this week:

May 7th - I attended the check presentation assembly at Graland and got to see the fruits of all our labor!

May 8th - The most delicious Chicken Marsala Pizza.  Tastes like I'm a good cook!!

May 9th - Afternoon light that makes everything glow.  This is my favorite time of day.

May 10th - We received a thank you card from one of the clients of the shelter our Impact Factory crew served a few weekends ago.  Absolutely unexpected and delightful.

May 11th - I had a great annual review today so I celebrated with a pink cake pop from Starbucks.

May 12th - My friend Becca and I went to see Erica Ryann perform at Rooster and Moon.

May 13th - On this morning's walk I was transported to Indiana, with the doves cooing and this old barn in the distance.

And I made this computer bag this afternoon.

Here's to another great week ahead.

Bloomin' Luck!

April 30th - The Cherry Hills Country Club has the most beautiful flower bed full of these perfect pink tulips.

As an extra, I like this shot through the glass in my gate.

May 1st - Buffaloes wandering the 16th street mall.

May 2nd - I forgot to take a picture today, so this is of the portrait book by Steve McCurry that I write a poem about every night.  I'm grateful to have such a plethora of amazing subjects to write about.

May 3rd - Hooray! My parking ticket has been voided!!

May 4th - Happy Hour with the Dove Tail crew after work - what a nice way to end the week.

May 5th - We had our annual fundraiser this morning - the Bash Dash and one of the challenges was to make a habitat.  The Trevista team made theirs complete with a bed!

May 6th - I have a new housemate that's moved into my back patio.  She's kind of messy, and bossy about her space, but other than that, she keeps to herself.
